Electrical and Controls Engineer
Based near Kettering / Northampton / Corby area

Our client specialise in the provision of unique automation solutions to a diverse range of customers and industry sectors worldwide. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Electrical and Controls engineer to complement their established and professional project engineering team.
Reporting to the Controls Manager and based near Northampton, the successful Electrical and Controls Engineer candidate will be extensively involved in all aspects of PLC software development and electrical hardware design activities associated with innovative automation systems production, and will undertake a range of activities that will include the design, program, build and wire in of electrical control panels for an expansive range of conveyors.
Other responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the accurate creation and completion of associated supporting document and paperwork (such as circuit drawings, FDS creation in line with customer requirements, schematic layouts and CE documentation as well as installation instruction documentation for use by engineers in the field) as well as performing hands on testing and troubleshooting activities, wiring panels and fault-finding on the shopfloor with fellow engineers and undertaking the specification of associated materials required.
Additionally, you may be required to undertake occasional visits to customer sites or project locations in both the UK and Europe to provide additional resource support, so a full UK driving licence is essential for the position.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Electrical and Controls Engineer role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will realistically demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience of working within an electrical or controls engineering and development environment and demonstrate proven controls design experience, with experience in the use of Simatic STEP7 Tia Portal being ESSENTIAL for the position.
You will possess relevant engineering qualifications and hold 17th / 18th Edition IEE regs certificate and possess extensive experience in the use of AutoCad Electrical or a similar design package, and will be familiar with SISTEMA and associated machinery directives and relevant safety legislation associated with special purpose machinery development.
You will possess excellent communication skills at all levels and be experienced in producing technical documentation using the Microsoft suite of packages and will demonstrate previous experience of using networking solutions including Profinet and ASi Bus.
