Centre & Reserve Manager
WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, Dumfries & Galloway
37.5 Hours per week
GBP42,798 per annum

This is an inspiring career opportunity for someone looking to combine their extensive reserve management background with operations management experience in a broad leadership role to deliver a positive future for this amazing site, the staff and volunteers that work there and all of its visitors and supporters.

Caerlaverock is a stunning nature reserve situated on the north Solway coast. Established as a winter refuge for the Svalbard breeding population of barnacle geese, it is considered one of the best wildlife watching sites in the UK. The Atlantic Saltmarsh at WWT Caerlaverock is among the most important saltmarsh systems in Britain. The Visitor Centre hosts a simple retail and catering offer, and the site has a growing self-catering accommodation business, ripe for further development.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is the UK's leading wetland conservation charity. We are pioneers in saving threatened wetland wildlife, a centre for excellence in conservation science and experts in wetland management and creation. Around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature at our ten sites around the UK, and we work nationally and internationally in key locations to balance conservation with sustainable livelihoods.

As the Centre & Reserve Manager you will manage your resources creatively to achieve financial, conservation and visitor engagement targets, delivering the Trust's agreed strategic and business objectives. You will lead and support a small, multi-functional team of staff and volunteers, identifying and seizing opportunities to develop all aspects of the business. You will also fulfil the duties of Reserve Manager with full responsibility for development, implementation and review of the Reserve Management Plan for the Caerlaverock holdings.

You must be an experienced and professional manager, ideally with a good mix of operations, conservation and engagement experience, with a track record of leading a team to achieve ambitious and challenging conservation and business targets.

In return for your hard work and dedication you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

- 25 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres

Closing date for applications: Sunday 27th June 2021

First interviews will be held week commencing 5th July, at WWT Caerlaverock, with 2nd interviews held remotely the following week.

WWT is an equal opportunities employer, and all applications will be considered solely on merit.
