Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Adviser for an initial 18 month contract - with the potential to extend - on a salary of GBP39,914 per annum. Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future.
Responsibilities:
- To manage a team of health and safety professionals to provide support to the Deputy Head of Safety and Assurance in ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective Health and Safety Service to all stakeholders.
- Act as a lead in the development and implementation of Health and Safety initiatives which support the organisation's Annual Health and Safety Improvement plans, the Service Reset, Renew and Recovery strategy and strategic SA matters.
- Accountability and responsibility for identifying health and safety (HS) matters to support the delivery of the organisation's strategic aims and objectives and ensure legal compliance.
Essential Skills:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Post qualification experience
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application
- Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in order to provide professional advice
- Proven ability to undertake project work and develop systems
- Ability to research and develop policy
- Ability to problem solve in an analytical manner and identify practical solutions
- Experience of line management of people or through project work
- Ability to use their own discretion and judgement when giving advice
- Adaptable approach to tasks
- Experience of operating a systematic approach to managing health & safety
- Ability to interpret and advise on legislation and policy in a clear, fluent concise and jargon free manner, which is understood by intended recipient
- Computer literate
- Ability to respond to competing demands including good time management and ability to work to tight deadlines

- Experience of managing budgets
