Smart Solutions have a permanent opportunity for a Technical Services Technician based onsite with our Newport based client
The Technical Services Technician will have overall responsibility for the day to day maintenance of Gas Distribution Systems. You will also be required to provide holiday and absence cover for other technical & operations personnel where this is deemed necessary.
Main Responsibilities
* Sustain (Basic PM) and troubleshoot on equipment during shift hours
* Responsible for the day to day operation of pumping and gas distribution systems
* Ability to fault find on pneumatic, fluidic and electrical systems, to quickly and accurately diagnose failures and to carry out repairs in a timely manner to minimise production downtime.
* Co-ordinate and perform preventive maintenance duties in a timely manner on the gas storage facilities and associated safety related equipment.
* Document all pumping and distribution maintenance and interventions on the site computer maintenance management system (CMMS), and to communicate failures and issues to the client in a timely manner.
* Operate and maintain all dispense systems to meet equipment availability, maintainability and reliability targets to ensure onsite production targets are met.
* Maintain high 5S housekeeping standards in all chemicals associated areas, and to report any discrepancies to client through 5S reporting systems.
* Assist in the auditing and maintaining of onsite spares stock levels associated with the pumping and distribution systems and to liaise with client stores management teams with any issues noted.
* Support installations and relocation of gas pumping and distribution systems.
* Routinely required to work around the facility performing equipment service and drum change operations. This will require walking through and around external areas of the site, and lifting/moving tasks using lifting aids and techniques. Some computer work and paperwork in an office environment. Working areas are at room temperature.
Further Responsibilities
* To carry out any other tasks or duties within post holders capability as requested by the company to meet business needs.

* Be able to read, analyse and interpret technical procedures, write basic observation reports using a set format.
Qualifications & Experience
* Two years' experience working in a maintenance environment within a manufacturing setting
* Ability to work under their own initiative.
* HNC or equivalent in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering subject.
* Experience in similar position advantageous.
* Computer literate.
* Good communication skills.
Shift Pattern
Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm / Friday 8am to 3.30pm
