Our client helps their customers with turnkey electrical substation projects across the fields of power transmission and distribution, renewable energy and transportation.
Civil Project Engineer
They are looking for a Civil Project Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent and manage substation civil engineering, construction and contracting activities, working with the sales team on tendering activities and ending with the hand-over to the service department and client.
The Civil Project Engineer will be responsible for:
*Civil and structural design, checking and commenting on civil documentation in accordance with contractual requirements of tenders / projects.
*Liaison with civil designers and resolution of site Technical Queries, remedial works and snags.
*Supporting the CDM coordinator / Temporary works coordinator.
*Contributing technical advice during the feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases for projects to the direct workforce and framework contractors.
*Monitoring, control and reporting on project progress (costs and budget).
*Selection of key personnel and subcontractors for the project.
*Investigation and development of cost-effective design and construction solutions.
*Contribution to the development and the implementation of the clients' Design Guidance, Standards and Specifications.
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level as a minimum in Civil Engineering or another construction related area with membership of a recognized professional institution.
You will have significant experience in developing project requirements, cost estimates, project plans and budgets on large, multi-million-pound construction projects, including similar power transmission/distribution or major utilities projects.
You will have knowledge/experience of:
*Civil and structural design and the ability to check and comment on civil documentation in accordance with contractual requirements of tenders / projects.
*Knowledge of National Grid, SSE, EDF and similar major utilities.
*The UK Building Market, Standards and Regulations.
*Assisting with the negotiations and awarding of contracts.
*Monitoring, control and reporting on project progress.
*Resolving disputes, negotiating change orders and communicating decisions to clients, subcontractors and management personnel.
*Selecting key personnel and subcontractors.
