Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Reports To: Health & Safety Officer
Hours: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm
Location: Warmley, Bristol
Job Purpose
Our client is committed to meeting the requirements of ISO 45001:2018 certification standards. Reporting to the EHS&Q Director, the role of EHS&Q Officer is varied and encompasses the day to day environmental health, safety, and quality functions in conjunction with strategic responsibilities to support the continued growth of the company. As a result, there is a strong focus on improving the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) to meet changing needs.
You will be a point of contact for all health and safety related queries. This includes reviewing relevant documentation such as validation protocols, change controls, deviations, internal and external audit reports. You will lead investigations into any areas that require improvement by working with the Heads of Departments to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner. On occasions you may be required to attend one of our other locations to carry out audits.
Key Tasks & Main Duties
1. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Integrated Management System to the standards set, ensuring our own processes are prepared for annual audit.
2. Liaise with all departmental managers to ensure departments comply with the ISO Standards for the ISO 45001:2018 policies.
3. Ensure that Managers are giving guidance to their employees, ensuring that they are fully aware of the relevant procedures to be followed when carrying out their work duties.
4. Liaise with suppliers to ensure their compliance with our Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality management systems.
5. Liaise with customers to ensure the client meets standards required to achieve and maintain approved supplier status.
6. Liaise with Third party consultants to ensure that the policies comply with all appropriate legislation.
7. Carry out special Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality projects as required.
8. Carry out regular Audits across the business and verify established procedures.
9. Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are kept tidy.
10. Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015, 1400:2015, 45001:2018 procedures, proactively contributing to the company's continuous improvement programme.
Skills & Experience Required
ESSENTIAL
1. Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of management systems and relevant H&S policies compliant with ISO 45001:2018 standards/auditing techniques
2. Relevant work experience within an Environmental, Health & Safety, and Quality position
3. Effective interpersonal skills; able to develop good working relationships with people at all levels
4. IT literate i.e. must be competent in the use of MS Office applications (Excel etc) and Adobe sign
5. Willingness to learn and adapt to change - be committed to continuous personal and professional development
6. Ability to work individually and as part of a team
7. Must be proactive and work under own initiative
8. Full UK driving license
DESIRABLE
1. Experience in management systems auditing against recognised standards
2. Experience in auditing across a range of industry sectors
