We are currently recruiting on behalf of our sub-contracting engineering client in the Redditch area. Serving a range of sectors, including automotive and oil & gas, the client is looking for an experienced 'hands on' Quality Engineer to join the team.
General purpose of role:
To support the Production Manager in the operation of the quality management system and to achieve strategic business objectives. To liaise with Customers and Suppliers regarding any quality issues or concerns. To perform inspection activities on purchased parts, production parts and new product introductions. To maintain the calibration system. This is a hands-on position and requires inspection from start to finish.

Flexible Day shift position:
Mon-Thurs 8:00/7:30-4:30/5:00pm and an early finish on a Friday
Main responsibilities of role:
* Conduct investigations into customer and supplier complaints / rejects and manage associated corrective action reports
* Conduct investigations into internal rejects and manage associated corrective action reports
* Conduct and record routine inspection activities (first off / last off and in-process) on production parts using CMM (PCDMIS) projectors, micrometers, vernier, dial gauges etc.
* Conduct Goods Inwards inspection of sub-contract manufactured parts to MTD drawings.
* Conduct patrol / process audits to ensure in-process inspection records and activities are being carried out to plan.
* Prepare of Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) etc and assist the NPI Engineer as and when required.
* Maintain the internal calibration register and calibrate equipment in accordance with internal procedures.
* Co-ordinate external calibration with calibration house and maintain external calibration certificates.
Targets and outcomes expected:
* Completion of Customer Corrective Actions ontime
* Complete of Inspection activities on time in line with production and customer delivery requirements
* Achievement of quality RFT targets
* Completion of First Article Inspection Reports ( i.e. FAIR, ISIR, PPAP etc) on time in line with NPI program
* Management of Equipment calibrations.
Background knowledge required:
* Mechanical engineering background
* A sound understanding ISO9001 management system standard
* Worked in a manufacturing environment ideally in a Machining background.
Role specific skills needed:
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings and geometric tolerances
* Organized, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
* Ability to deal / communicate effectively at all levels
* Able to use Windows PC to support the role
* Work efficiently both on independent basis and as part of a team.
* Able to use CMM (PCDMIS - or similar softwares) and standard measuring equipment i.e. Shadow graph, vernier, dial gauge, micrometer etc
