Mechanical BMS Manager
Overview:
The post holder is responsible for the safe, timely and efficient design, installation and commissioning of MEP BMS systems.
The post holder will be required to provide services both on and off-site, providing line management to Supervisors and various sub-contractors as required.
Primary responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the BMS Manager is to provide leadership and oversight that all BMS works are designed, procured, delivered and commissioned on time in full, within budget, to the correct quality standard.
Lead a small team comprising of a BMS Manager, Supervisor and various sub-contractors as required ensuring they are trained, competent and motivated to conduct their duties.
Conduct site surveys as required and feed output in to the pre-construction team.
Attend project meetings and produce reports as required.
Budget responsibility for delivery of BMS commissioning against plan
Build relationships with clients/contractors as part of the team.
Attend meetings with designers, specialist contractors and internal teams to review final stage design details ensuring opportunities for value engineering are maximised.
Review of final designs to ensure compliance to specification and value engineering opportunities are grasped.
Provide advice to the QS/Procurement teams where required to aid with procurement of material and labour.
On site review and management of building services installation to ensure contract compliance.
Ensure correct installation and commissioning of BMS elements ensuring that all work is completed to the relevant professional and statutory standards.
Attend site where required in order to support the design, procurement, installation and commissioning process.
Have input into post-installation lessons learned processes focussed on continual improvement of the BMS system deployed.
Learn, un-learn and re-learn industry best practice deploying this within the specialist field to ensure we maintain the leading edge in our field.
Be involved in R&D activities as required developing new ways to improve the off-site manufacturing and sustainability credentials of the business.
Ensure health and safety policy is adhered to at all times.

Qualifications:
BEng (Hons) in an engineering discipline or equivalent - Essential
Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with a relevant institute (or working towards) - Desirable
Prince 2 or equivalent - Desirable
Team management qualification e.g. ILM or CMI - Desirable

Specialist Skills & Knowledge:
A minimum of two years technical post-graduate experience across the design, build and commissioning of BMS services and relevant professional standards and legislation - Essential
Knowledge of the project management process - Essential
Experience of the off-site modular build sector with experience of BMS project management from design to handover - Desirable
Able to write detailed, comprehensive commissioning method statements / test scripts, commissioning plans, and commissioning reports - Essential
Fully comprehensive across all Microsoft Office programmes - Essential
Able to write commissioning programmes within Microsoft Projects - Essential
Experience
Previous experience of M&E - Essential
