Mechanical Design Engineer (BAE(phone number removed)) - 5 Month - Radway Green, Crewe - GBP25.89 UMB or GBP20.15 PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Clearance Requirements & Eligibility

This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). The Role

BAE Systems Land (UK) currently has a vacancy for a Product Development Engineer to be involved with the design and development of Small Arms Ammunition (SAA) products at our site in Radway Green.

As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for discrete work packages across all phases of the product life cycle, from concept through development, test, evaluation and qualification to production. This position will be primarily based at BAE Systems Land (UK) in Radway Green, South Cheshire with occasional requirements for travel to suppliers and trials sites.

Additional Information

Your main responsibilities as a Product Development Engineer will involve:

- Conducting and managing product and process design, development, test and evaluation activities on SAA products

- Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data

- Preparing technical documentation, including reports, procurement specifications and requirement specifications

- Conducting and supporting technical investigations

- Developing and using safe systems of work for engineering tasks

- Working with suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure that technical and quality requirements are achieved for manufactured items to time and schedule

- Developing inspection and quality controls for components and assembled products

- Contributing to technical, design and project reviews where required

- Contributing to the Risk Management process

- Interfacing with both internal and external customers

Essential Skills

Essential

- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification and / or HNC/HND supported by complementary experience in Mechanical Engineering

- Experience in the development and industrialisation of products and processes in the Engineering industry

- Experience with trials, tests and evaluation of products or processes

- A good understanding of manufacturing techniques and assembly processes

- Ability to interpret Technical Drawings

- An understanding of project/risk management

- IT literate, with good communication and technical report writing skills

Desirable

- Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process

- Proven capability in development projects in particular system integration

- Experience of High Volume manufacturing

- A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design would be an advantage
