To provide the AVEVA Group with SQL Server administration and development skill to help develop and support critical business systems in a timely and cost-effective manner, to meet current and future needs.
Dimensions
• The job holder will work within the Information Technology team providing internal business solutions and SQL Server expertise to the Aveva Group.
• Provide support to all Information Technology team members in accordance to user needs and business requirements.
• Travel to Aveva's world-wide offices may be required but only on a short trip basis.
Principal Accountabilities
• Manage business critical SQL Server systems, perform SQL Server administration, performance tuning, manage security and troubleshoot SQL Server problems.
• Ensure that development, UAT and production database environments are maintained and up to date.
• Design new and support existing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. Systems currently reported from include NAV, Salesforce and bespoke systems.
• Monitor, manage and implement business solutions in a project driven environment on time and within budget.
• Contribute to the design, development and support of the SQL Server systems and database installations within the organisation; proactively suggesting improvements.
• Provide development and support to all Information Technology teams.
• Maintain data warehouse and data marts.
• Design and support Excel pivot table queries and reports.
• Provide appropriate training to users.
Important Working Relationships.
• Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Senior SQL Specialist and colleagues.
• Work closely with all Information Technology teams to ensure tasks and projects are completed accurately. On time and within budget.
• Form, build and maintain relationships with internal business managers and teams to understand their requirements and to ensure that a high level of service is provided and sustained.
• Form, build and maintain relationships with external suppliers when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Technical Skills.
• Thorough understanding of relational database technologies.
• SQL Server DBA (to latest version), including backup/restore, replication, performance tuning.
• Medium/Advanced SQL skills (pivoting, unpivoting, XML, JSON, recursive queries, all types of joins, OPENQUERY, OVER, APPLY etc).
• Reporting Services.
• Power BI.
• Azure SQL Database.
• PowerShell.

Disposition
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Able to adopt a variety of perspectives, generally the end user, but also their management e.g. during workshops and when reviewing.
• Able to interview business representatives effectively, distilling requirements.
• Able to realise user requirements in a well-designed software solution.
• Self-starter willing to take ownership of tasks to their successful conclusion.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a result-oriented approach.
• Good attention to detail and reviews their work thoroughly.
• Proactive, clear and concise communicator, mindful of their audience, with strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Desired.
Technical Skills
• Transactional Replication (including setup and recovery after database restore or failure).
• Integration Services
• Analysis Services (including MDX and DAX).
• Reporting Services.
• Azure SQL Database.
• PowerShell.
• Knowledge of Azure would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of MuleSoft would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Veeam would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of IBM Infosphere would be an advantage.
