A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Chemistry Associate Scientist working in the Oxford area for a leading, global advanced cancer diagnostics company. Joining a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team working at the interface of chemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, the Chemistry Associate Scientist will have experience in creating and developing chemistries for genetic and epigenetic analysis. The Chemistry Associate Scientist will focus on the enhancing and characterizing the TAPS chemistry further and developing the core reagents used to implement it.

On offer is a competitive salary up to GBP28,000 plus a benefits package which includes a bonus, 25 days holiday, contributed pension and many other benefits.

Responsibilities for the Chemistry Associate Scientist:

- Develop and commercialise ground-breaking epigenetic analysis chemistries in a fast-paced, product development environment.
- Optimize existing chemistries for epigenetic analysis of DNA and support the creation of improved methods that significantly extend capabilities.
- Optimize formulations, methods, and workflows to achieve commercial levels of performance, stability, robustness, and ease-of-use.
- Characterize chemicals, reactions, reagents, and methods using a variety of analytical tools to identify and control critical parameters.
- Support the execution of next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments and use NGS data to measure the performance of epigenetic analysis methods and chemistries.
- Use systematic problem-solving methods to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Document lab-scale processes for the formulation and quality control (QC) of critical reagents to enable scalable.
- Manufacture processes; support the transfer of new processes and products to manufacturing.
- Collaborate effectively with the broader R&D team and senior staff on project execution and reporting.
- Present results, recommendations, and progress reports regularly to colleagues.
- Contribute to the documentation of experimental protocols.

- Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.

Expected skillset for the Chemistry Associate Scientist:

- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar discipline.
- 1+ years of experience of working in an Academic or Industrial Research environment completing tasks as outlined in the essential duties.
- Strong skills in chemical biology, nucleic acid chemistry, and molecular biology techniques.
- Strong theoretical and practical chemistry skills, especially as applied to DNA.
- Good knowledge of modern analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, Mass Spec, and NMR).
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship.

Desirable skillset:

- Experience with NGS or other genetic analysis methods.
- Background in chemistry coupled with experience of genetic analysis technologies.
- Experience of working with high throughput genetic analysis tools, especially NGS.
- Experience with NGS library preparation methods.
- Experience of RUO or IVD product development processes.
- Experience of working within a Quality Management System.
- Familiarity with the analysis and interpretation of NGS data.
