The Reach plc Midlands cluster of StokeonTrentLive, CheshireLive and StaffordshireLive is looking to appoint a key new team member. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing exciting, engaging copy that will work across all three growing sites. A key responsibility of the role will be to ensure that content is optimised for search engine rankings, ensuring that it stands out from the crowd and reaches new audiences..

We're looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.


What will I be doing?

  • You will be working across three newsrooms, reporting to the head of the audience team
  • You will write engaging and lively content that will be on-trend and reactive to local, national and global search demands
  • You will build strong contacts for story-gathering in our existing and underserved communities
  • You will be comfortable interviewing, taking pictures and filming when out in the field
  • You will love all things social media and use these skills to build audiences and communities, ensuring content in shared on social platforms

Who are we looking for?

  • You are creative and passionate, with an awareness of quality digital storytelling
  • You have an NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification and will use it to generate content that engages audiences and meets the standards set by Reach
  • You have a keen understanding of SEO, and be able to implement that knowledge on a daily basis to ensure content reaches new and growing audiences
  • You will preferably have a full, clean driving licence
