The Community of St Mary the Virgin at Wantage is looking to appoint a new Bursary Clerk (Finance Assistant) to work alongside the Bursar in the smooth running of the Convent’s finance operations, and to provide administrative support to the Steward in relation to HR matters.

You will be responsible for administering all day-to-day income and expenditure transactions, monitoring the bank accounts, especially petty cash, and contributing significantly to the monthly preparation and processing of payroll. You will keep our personnel records up to date, managing processes such as notification of sickness by staff, records of staff holidays, and the process for Disclosure and Barring Service checks of staff.  

We are looking for someone with previous experience of working in finance with computerised accounts systems (ideally Sage), with excellent computer literacy skills, including MS Office, particularly Excel, and a working understanding of the charity sector.

You will be highly organised and a strong team player with a positive can-do attitude.  The ability to prioritise your own workload and to work to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy are also important.
