Procurement Assistant

Location: Flexible office locations in Scotland (including Glasgow & Edinburgh) following an initial period of home working

Salary: GBP28.0k - GBP34.6k

Procurement & Commercial (P&C) are undergoing a significant growth of the function and are recruiting for several new roles. It's an exciting time to be involved in the formation of the team, propose ideas, develop methods and strategies to achieve our objectives. You will have the autonomy to use your initiative to improve efficiencies and ways of working as SGN embarks on the OFGEM GD2 five-year price control period. P&C are ultimately responsible for delivering best value on the annual GBP500+m of third party spend and P&C will have a significant role to play.

This exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Procurement Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Lead Standard and Shared Services (SSC) Manager the successful applicant will be responsible for administering both the P2P & Data and Reporting process and maintaining key systems as part of the Shared Service Centre's (SSC) portfolio. The Procurement Assistant has a good understanding of procurement processes and how these are reflected across the Shared Service landscape.

Key responsibilities will include;

Building effective relationships with colleagues in the wider business to ensure the SSC delivers efficiently
Liaising proactively with the Procurement and Logistics teams and the business to ensure no delays are incurred on orders and payments due to system data inaccuracies
Managing expectations by clearly communicating the sequence of events and dependencies to stakeholders
Ensuring P2P systems are maintained to an acceptable standard allowing for accurate reporting and efficient order placement/stock monitoring
Run reports to analyse system activity and undertake actions to resolve issues arising
Using the principles of continuous improvement, make regular suggestions to the Head of Shared Services to enable further process efficiencies
Highlight and communicate compliance issues to the Head of Shared Services and requesting departments on

The job holder will be required to have a basic understanding of SGN as a diverse business and the ability to understand business needs as well as understanding of the procurement processes.
