Following substantial investment by leading global construction firm, GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C), Elements Europe have a number of large projects in the pipeline and are looking to scale up the delivery capability with immediate effect and have a great opportunity for an experienced Design Lead to join our team.
The Design Lead will manage all design activity for a project, working alongside National main contractors; performing a variety of designing and drafting activities (surface and solid modelling), advising and supporting clients as to the requirements and obligations in the development of a building design, as well as managing internal external relationships.
The ideal candidate will be ambitious, driven and committed to the highest level of quality, safety, and planning. Will be able to manage the design process within agreed timescales whilst displaying expertise and commercial awareness to ensure the design process and solutions recognise current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate.
About the role
* Prepare dimensional drawings, installation drawings and more complex drawings (plant engineering).
* Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes or additional details
* Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documentation
* Serve as an information source on planning and design of equipment installations
* Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (like drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters, and /performance guarantees) for future reference.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of third party items and services data base
* Make data available to application engineers and project managers.
* Establish filing guidelines and processes to ensure documentation is retained in the correct manner.
* Maintain excellent client relationships
* Liaising with clients, project managers, and colleagues across the business from assembly floor through to the leadership team
* Site visits and verification of data
* Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations for the preparation of drawings
* Ensure the implementation of IMS procedures, along with contributing to the companies OHSAS18001, ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems along with BOPAS, CE Marking and EN1090 accreditations/certifications
About the Candidate
* Good forward planners
* Architectural / Design or technical background is not essential but is advantageous
* An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods is advantageous
* Experience using Auto CAD, Inventor and Vertex along with other 2 & 3D modelling software such as Revit, Tekla and BIM.
* Good working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015
* Good communication and people skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to present ideas effectively
* Able to evaluate ideas of others
* Ability to work individually or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
