My client based in Welwyn Garden City our looking for Production Operatives to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a leading employer in the area with great company benefits on offer.

This role is working in a production environment so ideally you will have previous experience in a similar role. You will be expected to work as part of a team meeting targets and deadlines and have the ability to read and understand English. Heavy lifting will be involved.

The Production Operative reports to the Operations Manager and is accountable for all activities as identified below.
The role is situated in Welwyn Garden City, UK, working in production areas using protective clothing and equipment as required.

Main Responsibilities
•Operate manual saws, automated cutting machines, rolling mills, robo machines as you are suitably trained and skilled in.
•Safely manually handle the product within your capability.
•Safely operate overhead cranes or lifting devices as trained and skilled in.
•Before using lifting equipment and chains ensure they are in a good state of repair.
•Operate a fork truck, only if you hold a valid licence.
•Report immediately to either the Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor or Operations Manager any damage incurred when operating equipment or driving company fork trucks, care should be taken to ensure that no damage or injury is caused to any equipment or persons.
•Ensure all work is undertaken in a tidy and safe manner.
•Be responsible for the tasks you undertake and ensure the product is manufactured to the specific customers order in a timely and accurate manner and to agreed quality standards.
•Report any safety issues encountered during the day to the Shift Supervisor, Production Supervisor or Operations Manager.
•Ensure the correct levels of PPE are worn at all times; it's your responsibility to do so.
•Attend blood lead appointments as and when advised.
•Be responsible for housekeeping within the production area; this is the direct responsibility of all Production personnel.
•Return all company equipment (e.g. chains, hooks) to the correct storage area after use, and report any damage.
•Take a proactive role in the application of health and safety procedures in the Production area.
•Undertake safety audits and risk assessments as required.
•Comply with accident/incident/near miss reports/SUSA discussions.
•Be flexible throughout the working day to accommodate changing operational priorities.
•Familiarise yourself with 'official company notices' and adhere to the conditions stated in those notices where relative to working practises.
•Ensure all work conforms with the requirements of British Lead Health and Safety, Quality, Environment and Energy policies.
•Carry out any other duties or tasks as specified by the Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor or Operations Manager.
Specific skills that are required to excel in this role include the following:

•A general aptitude for manual work.
•An understanding of Health & Safety Procedures in the workplace.
•An understanding of lead reduction policy and procedures.
•A basic understanding of company First Aid procedures and Fire Systems.

Monday to Friday rotating shifts (Apply online only)/(Apply online only) with a shift allowance paid of GBP1.62 paid per hour when working the late shift.

Due to the nature of the role a 6 week blood test will be required to test levels.
