1.Purpose of role

??Assisting the Site CDM Manager in the Management of site Health & Safety (PC Role)

??Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation on the CDM project.

??Assist in the development and implement Health & Safety initiatives to improve health & safety at site level.

2.Main Responsibilities

* Assist in the on site management of Health & safety activities as Principal Contractor.

* Be part of the change making process to working practices that are safe, practical and comply with legislation.

* Uphold and input into the implementation of Construction Phase Plans, help provide regular reviews and updates as required.

* Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety site based strategies and initiatives.

* Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.

* Play an effective role as part of the site based Health & Safety team.

* Carrying out:

-Regular reporting of site health, safety and environmental standards.

-Regular site inspections and audits to check policies, procedures and site rules are being properly implemented.

-Accident, incident & near miss investigations, root cause analysis and close out.

-Help with the development of key performance indicators and trend analysis.

-RAMS review process.

-Contractor pre-start & kick off meeting presentations and meeting for any new contractors prior to them attending site.

-Run regular site based meetings both with the client, engineering department and contractors.

-Help with the forward planning of resource requirements.

-Implementation of the Health and Safety Policy and the Health and Safety Management system.

-Lead daily site auditing process and ensure compliance with auditing standards.

-Carry out and document the site manager's weekly site audit and issue report detailing findings and countermeasures etc.

-Help with the CDM site manager's monthly audit and issue a report detailing finding and countermeasures etc.

-Help with regular updates to the client including weekly & Monthly reports which include statistical and trend analysis.

* Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) applicable legislation and any developments that affect our industry, especially CDM, LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height, Risk Assessment, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH, Workplace transport, etc.

* Help with the preparation and maintenance of an accurate and up to date set of accident statistics for the project allocated to.

* Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, etc.

* Be part of the advisory link with UK Health & Safety Manager, site CDM Manager and Project Manager and all other employees on matters relating to Health and Safety.

3.Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential

* NVQ level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

* Qualified in occupational Health and Safety to at least NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.

* Has a proactive and practical attitude to Health and safety.

* Has a good practical knowledge of health and safety.

* Has a good working knowledge of site based activities, hazards & risks'?

* Able to use Microsoft Office to a good level including Excel, Power Point & Word.

Desirable

* Experience of UK & (European) safety legislation
