1.Purpose of role

??To provide on-site Safety, Health, Environment advice and supervision to ensure that the projects are delivered safely and to the standards expected by our clients.

??To constantly promote & lead a culture of behavioural safety and personal responsibility for all persons working on site.


??Advise on any changes to site working practices to ensure operations are safe, practical and comply with legislation.

??When acting as Supervisor to ensure that all UK regulatory responsibilities are upheld at all times.

??Ensure that the Companies health and safety policies and procedures are fully implemented at site level and work with the Project Manager / Health & Safety Manager to ensure day to day compliance.

??Conduct regular site inspections and audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and report findings.

??Actively promote a positive health & safety culture on site.

??Assist the site Health & Safety Manager with the creation and implementation of its site based health & safety management system.

??Keep records of:

Inspections findings and help with producing reports that suggest improvements.

Incidents and accidents and help with producing statistics for directors and managers.

??Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) applicable legislation and any developments that affect our industry, especially CDM, LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height, Risk Assessment, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH, Workplace transport, etc.

??Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, etc.

??Hold H&S meetings, morning pre-start coordination meeting and toolbox talks with site teams on a regular basis in line with the requirements of the site.

??If required help conduct site health and safety inductions

??Investigation of accidents, dangerous occurrences or suspected health hazards.

??Review of Risk and Hazard Assessments.

??The implementation of procedures to ensure safe working practices and compliance with Health and Safety legislation and ISO 45001 Standard accreditation.

??Ensure local compliance to the ISO 45001 Standard Management system.

??Organise and assist with training and coaching of site based personnel at all levels in related aspects of Health and Safety.

??Assist with H&S reporting on a weekly basis.

??Issue safety bulletins to all employees and subcontractors where required.

??Carry out site audits in accordance with our ISO 45001 Standard management system.

??At all times promote individual awareness of the importance of Health and Safety and to create an environment that generates automatically, a high focus on Health and Safety awareness.

3.Experience & Qualifications Required

??NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC)

??Broad industry experience (ideally with some automotive experience)

??Experience in the health and Safety supervision of site activities.

??Experience in fulfilling the role of a site health and safety supervisor under a Principal Contractor as defined in the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015.

??Computer literate - able to compile reports (word) and develop / populate spreadsheets (Excel)

??Driving license

??Excellent written and verbal skills at technical and professional levels

??Able to work at a consistent level under pressure and demanding deadlines

??Able to work with others in various team environments and to be confident and assertive with people at all levels;

??Excellent time management skills, and able to prioritise multiple tasks
