Fixed term contract for 12 months - Part time (up to 36 hours in 4 weeks)

Our Libraries division offers a range of services to residents, including well-stocked adult and children's sections, PCs and Wi-Fi access, information and reference e-resources, audio and e-books and a regular variety of activities and events for the whole community.

Vacancies have arisen for the position of Weekend Customer Services Assistant. You will possess first class customer service attributes; have a helpful, friendly manner, an understanding of diverse cultural needs and a presentable appearance. As the first point of contact for visitors you will be expected to answer general queries and where necessary signpost users to other departments and organisations. You will be expected to actively promote library stock and services and assist in the delivery of events and activities.

You will ensure the library is well-presented and welcoming for people of every cultural background at all times. It is essential that you have a genuine enthusiasm for and love of, libraries and reading. You must demonstrate excellent customer service skills, have experience of working with the public and enjoy working with people of all ages, especially children, from a wide variety of backgrounds. Good IT and verbal communication skills are essential. Availability to work Saturdays and Sundays is essential.
