Due to our current Dairy Manager moving on after nearly 19 years in the role, we have an exciting and important contract vacancy for an exceptional dairy person to join this diverse farming business in Cornwall 8 miles south of the A30 at Launceston.
The 225-cow herd forms an integral part of this dairy, arable and livestock farm producing milk, meat and crops to the highest standards. The herd is milk recorded, calves in a 14-week block in autumn and is currently producing 8500 ltrs. Cows are milked twice per day through a brand new 20:40 Baumatic parlour which is central to the Future Farm project that also incorporates state of the art cubicles, calving yards and handling systems all under one roof. Feeding is done with a Trioliet automatic feeding system - one of the first of its kind in the UK. Cows are grazed through the summer months as are dairy youngstock.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in a similar role and must be able to lead the dairy team, interact with the student body and liaise effectively with lecturers, research staff and the wider industry whilst not losing sight of the challenges of running a commercial unit. Excellent communication skills need to be married to a practical outlook for this hands-on role.
A very good package is available to include a 3-bedroom bungalow on site, regular time off and a generous salary commensurate with the role.
