We are currently recruiting for a Shift Manager to join the business to be based at our manufacturing facility in Immingham.

Job Purpose

You will be expected to assist the Calcination Manager, Manufacturing Manager and Supply Chain Manager to ensure the manufacturing and dispatch operations are run safely, correctly and efficiently at all times. You are expected to provide excellent customer service by ensuring all products meet specification with rigorous quality checks and monitoring to Knauf Standard. This will be facilitated by quick decision making and accurate problem solving. You will be accountable for escalating good ideas and issues or concerns to ensure all departments are aware of any successes or problems being encountered. Communication is essential part of the role and you will be expected liaise with other Leaders, Managers and colleagues to achieve a clear and accurate shift communications. You will be also be expected to drive continuous improvement activities and projects to demonstrate best practice..

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

* Adhere to Knauf Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

* Maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance.

* Report to the Manufacturing Manager and provide cover when required.

* Plan, organise, delegate and lead your team in partnership with Team Leader/s.

* Supervise and coordinate day to day operations to ensure targets and KPI's are met or exceeded.

* Conducting daily GEMBA communication meetings and be a visible presence in the factory.

* Motivate and encourage peers and team members, including communicating strategic goals and identifying areas for new operational improvements.

* Ensure regular quality compliance in production for first class products in line with quality standards and working closely with our technical teams.

* Ensure comprehensive records are logged and maintained. Use of production base computer systems and spreadsheets.

* Communicate and deliver daily reports and present in meetings.

* Demonstrates competence in conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills using robust decision making techniques in order to define root causes in production related delays and breakdowns.

* Challenge the norm to identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase team efficiency and reduce cost, or time.

* Direct, motivate and improve team performance by working collaboratively, sharing knowledge and best practices.

* Ensure productivity is maximised during production and periods of down time.

* Provides excellent customer service, including interacting with internal and external customers and effectively assisting in customer complaints when requested.

Requirements:

* A high regard for health and safety standards with an understanding of H&S regulations.

* Previous Team Leader/Supervisory experience is essential.

* Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience advantageous.

* A good level of spoken & written English.

* IT literacy: proficiency in the basic functions of MS Office Word, Excel and SAP Good level of literacy and numeracy

* Good clear communication skills required.

* Good diagnostic skills for fault finding and problem solving.

* A high level of resilience and attention to detail.

* Highly motivated, confident, committed and positive.

* Good communicator with other departments to develop best practice.

* Ensure production remains compliant with standards and procedures.

* Ability to analyse a production plan and work with the support functions to maximise stock allocations.

* Willingness to follow through on commitments and be held accountable

* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

* Able to demonstrate previous understanding of operational planning, continuous process, quality systems and Health & Safety
