Do you thrive in a fast-paced work environment? Do you enjoy working to tight deadlines? Do you like to make a difference? If this sounds like you, this could be your perfect role.

At Johnnie Johnson Housing, we’re looking for a Payables & Receivables Officer to join us.

The role is all about supporting the Finance team with a range of day-to-day activities. Primarily, you’ll be busy with the transactional processing for the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger, and it’ll be your responsibility to ensure robust controls are maintained and operational measures are met.

Aside from that, you’ll be processing supplier statement reconciliations, investigating and resolving any differences or anomalies, and speaking to customers and colleagues to resolve any billing queries. You’ll set up new suppliers and customers on the system including carrying out verification checks, and cover any daily banking activities, including any relevant postings of cashbook transactions.

So now you’ve heard a bit about the role, let us tell you a bit about the team! It’s important to know who you might be working with, right?

Our Team

Our Finance team is a really lovely (if we don’t mind saying so ourselves!) close knit team of twelve. We’re lead by a brand new Head of Finance and as well as providing support to the organisation, we support each other too. We work hard but we also like to have fun too and you’ll often find us catching up (on the non-financial stuff) outside of work.

About you

We really need someone who has experience of doing a similar finance role, completing Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger transactions. Credit control experience would also be a major plus. You don’t need to have a financial qualification, your experience is more important to us! We’d also like someone that’s organised, and someone that’s diligent and accurate, even when under pressure. You’ll need to have good IT skills (particularly knowledge of Microsoft packages) and be comfortable working with financial systems.

And the benefits of working for us?

We’ve adopted a completely agile way of working meaning you can work from home and/or our brand new (and very swanky!) innovation hub, Eden Point in Cheadle Hulme! As long as our residents and customers are put first we’ll also give you a degree of flexibility using our ‘My Lifestyle’ guidelines, meaning you can attend the important things in life. So, whether you’ve got a yoga class you’d love to attend, your child’s school play or maybe it’s just that you’ve just got a new fridge being delivered, we will work with you to be flexible!

We also offer a fantastic holiday allowance of 33 days per annum (including statutory holidays) which rises to 38 days after 5 years’ service. We can offer you a 35-hour working week, an enhanced 5% employer contribution pension scheme and a recognition scheme with both financial and non-financial rewards such as gift vouchers, early finishes or even a later start! There’s loads more fantastic benefits too – you can find out more about these on our careers site!

About us

We are a not for profit housing association, housing over 8,000 residents across the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Our vision Living LongerLiving Better is simply about helping people age well and live independently for longer.
