Professional Services - Networking Consultant
Description
Our customer are currently seeking a networking consultant to join our thriving Professional Services team. Your focus will be on delivering high end consultancy services into some of the UK's leading vendors, technology partners and clients in all sectors of the market, including Public Sector, Large Public Venues, Health Care, Retail and Enterprise.
Experience with both wired and wireless networking is essential, and the candidate must have strong expertise with either Cisco, Juniper or Aruba/HPE technologies. Additional experience with complimentary vendors is desirable. We are also keen to hear from applicants who have had vendor/manufacturer independent training, particularly with the CWNP organisation.
Based on the candidate's vendor experience, they should also have a solid understanding of both Cisco and Aruba/HP networking technologies, as these form the foundational networks underlying most of our client's infrastructure.
The role will require frequent travel within the UK and into Europe, as the majority of work is carried out at customer sites. Additionally, the candidate should expect to be staying away from home for periods of time at customer sites where project demands make it necessary.
The ideal candidate will be disciplined and flexible, and experienced at managing customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Scoping
* Scoping of client requirements and generation of formal Scope of Works.
* Propose design and change documentation to support new installations and upgrades to existing configuration.
* Document and review existing client network design and assist clients with project requirements, design and implementation.
Network Implementation
* Responsible for new system deployment, including the deployment of new devise in complex environments.
* Assist local support personnel with remote deployments of hardware and software and with wired/wireless deployments and wired/wireless connectivity.
* Document changes to the network during implementation.
* Work closely with clients during and after implementation to ensure satisfaction and operation.
* Handover to client support teams for in-life support.
Network Support and Troubleshooting
* Provide 24x7 rota based on-call support as a tier 3 escalation resource to client and field engineering teams.
* Serve as a resource to identify and diagnose network specific issues.
* Work with client NOC engineers with troubleshooting complex issues.
* Act as a consultant to other departments where they may have IT network needs.
Qualifications and Education
* Degree in a computer, physical sciences or engineering related discipline. This requirement may be waived only if the candidate demonstrates expert technical abilities.
* Candidate must be fluent in English. Other language skills a plus.
* Travel may be required. Candidate must have a valid passport.
* Candidate must pass local background and security checks.
Technical Knowledge
* Wired/Wireless design and implementation.
* Wired/Wireless site assessments and documentation.
* NAC solutions (any of ISE, Clearpass or UAC).
* Network management (any of Prime, DNA, Central, Airwave, MIST).
* Switches and routers (any of Cisco/Juniper/Aruba-HPE).
* Enterprise routing protocols (i.e. EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).
* Traffic monitoring and analytics such as packet capture analysis.
Skills
* Strong project coordination, relationship management and negotiation skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong analytical skills including RF Analysis
* Excellent ability to interpret impact of technology choices
* Vendor Certifications; At least 1 (ideally 2 or more) professional level vendor certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP or ACMP (required)
* CWDP or similar professional level certification (preferred).
* CCIE, JNCIE, ACDX/ACMX, CWNE or similar expert level certification (highly advantageous)
