Teaching Personnel are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a busy and committed team of staff for a school based in Exeter. The right candidate will be happy to support teachers and pupils in a range of ways from 1:1 individual support tailored to the pupil to working with groups of children with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs (Team Teach or equivalent training an advantage but not essential and training can be provided). The role is full time and the right candidate will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position depending on their success in that role. Alternatively, we are also working on day-to-day supply roles that can offer more flexibility to your working week if preferred.
Our client offers a nurturing, safe and non-judgemental space for children who display challenging behaviour. These pupils might be LAC (Looked After Children) or from a disadvantaged background so we need someone who is empathetic and passionate about having a positive affect and contribution to their education and lives. The school is a specialist provision for students that have been excluded from mainstream education. It offers support in academic and vocational subjects, identifying the strengths of the students and working with them to help them to become independent and employable.
This role would particularly suit:
Teaching Assistants looking for a new challenge
People with experience working with challenging children
People who are wanting to gain more experience in teaching/mental health
Candidates with experience working with children or those with Special Needs is required and a working knowledge of Makaton, Moving and Handling, PECs or Team Teach is desirable (but not essential).
If you have a lot to give and want to make a difference to the lives of children with SEN or if you want to expand your experience across a wider age and ability range then this role is for you. Please apply below!
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see (url removed)/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
