We are recruiting for our Plympton based engineering client. They have a vacancy for a time served Quality Technician to join their busy Quality/Metrology department. They are an AS9100 accredited company, so primarily they inspect Aerospace products, but also manufacture for the Defence, Oil, Gas and Medical sectors.
The skills/experience required are detailed below. Some are essential but some would be an advantage:
* QA/Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry or an understanding of AS9100 would be an advantage
* CMM experience is essential (Programming AberlinkCMM and Micro-Vu Vision systems would be an advantage, but full training will be provided)
* The ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings (GD&T)
* Experience in the use of metrology equipment such as Mics, Callipers & Height Gauges
* Basic PC skills such as Excel and Word
* Experience in compiling inspection reports (AS9102 Rev B FAIR's would be an advantage)
The successful candidate will need to be flexible and reliable and work well as a team player but also someone who can work on their own initiative when required.
The working hours are 38 hours per week and you would be required to work an alternating day and late shift pattern.
The shift patterns are:
Day Shift -7am to 3:30pm Mon-Thur. 7am to 1pmFri (No premium)
Late Shift - 3:30pm to 1:30am Mon-Thur. (4 days) - (20% premium)
Salary will be based on skill level and experience of the successful candidate but as a guide the starting rate will be around GBP11.00-13.00 per hour.
All overtime will be paid at time & half.
Our client offers 25 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays and as an added benefit there is a pension scheme.
They do not pay sick pay, but operate SSP after the qualifying period.
