The Assistant Financial Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining the lease accounting records, fixed asset reporting and reconciliations, collation of monthly payroll reports and the preparation of year end audit file and statutory accounts.

Role and Responsibilities

The key priorities for the role are:


Year End, Audit & Statutory Accounts Preparation
•Preparation of year end disclosure packs for submission to Group Finance
•Drafting statutory accounts for UK statutory entities (7 legal entities)
•Contact for the audit team during the year end audit, ensuring all audit requests are responded to in a timely manner
•Working with Group Finance to support consolidated accounts preparation

Month End
•Maintain the accuracy of the accounting records, which includes:
- Maintenance of the general ledger, including month end close of the general and subsidiary ledgers
- Performance and review of reconciliations between the general and subsidiary ledgers, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved.


Financial Accountants Assistant

•Responsible for key elements of the month end close, which will include performing reconciliations, investigating variances against forecast results and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
•Preparation of Aged Debtors schedules
•Preparation of Aged Accounts Payable schedules
•Maintaining the finance lease records, including monthly posting of finance lease interest and ensuring that new leases and lease repayments are accurately recorded

• Process inter company invoices and reconcile receipts and payments
•Maintaining the fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation posting and ensuring that new fixed assets are accurately recorded
•To ensure that key controls are operating and documented on a monthly basis
•Involvement with key business initiatives, such as product launches, ensuring that there is financial rigour around the decision-making process and that our systems, people and processes are adequately prepared

Payroll
•Responsible for the collation of monthly overtime, callout and commission payments
•Ensuring staff loan, gym membership and cycle scheme records are kept up to date
•Employee benefits calculation and processing

•Calculations of Enhanced Holiday Pay Rates
•Working with the Financial Accountant and HR team to check and reconcile the monthly payroll to internal records and follow up on any discrepancies
•Posting of monthly payroll journals
•Assist the Financial Accountant with preparation of annual P11Ds
•Assist the Financial Accountant with preparation of annual PSA returns

Other
•Preparation of daily reconciliations between the general and subsidiary ledgers, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved
•Daily cashflow analysis, including review of bank statements, BACS payment reports and bank reconciliations
•Assisting with the collation and completion of the budget and quarterly forecasts as directed by the Financial Controller
•Involvement in group finance initiatives as required
•Preparation of Quarterly VAT returns entries
•Acquisition support including acquisition accounting, valuations and legal Hive Up

Essential Experience

•Experience of working in a commercial or Information Technology driven business of similar size (revenues of GBP90m+)
•IFRS reporting experience
•Strong financial accounting systems knowledge
•Strong communicator - written and oral
•A highly driven and energetic individual
•Ability to deal at all levels of the organisation
•Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workload in alignment with the business priorities
•Proactive team player and have the confidence to gain credibility across the business
