We are a multibillion-dollar specialist Aerospace and Defence company who have been providing the Ministries of Defence, integrators, aircraft manufacturers and airlines with a wide range of advanced aviation solutions for over 60 years.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Software Developer with a passion for backend development to join our team on a permanent basis.
You will manage the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
Responsibilities Include;
* Production, modification and maintenance of software and systems.
* All stages of the software development life-cycle - planning, implementation, testing, documenting, deployment and maintenance.
* Building application back end systems - APIs and Databases.
* Working closely with team members.
* Produce high quality, testable code.
* Able to take responsibility for design, build and tracking of features using agile processes.
Essential skills
* Excellent Object-Oriented skills and knowledge of design patterns.
* Excellent knowledge of at least one of PHP, Python or NodeJS.
* Web services and APIs.
* Unit and integration testing
* Development on Linux/Unix based systems and good knowledge of Linux.
* Requirements analysis and technical documentation.
Desirable skills
* Open to using agile processes
* Symfony
* Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with continuous integration and/or continuous delivery.
* Experience working with version control systems such as GIT.
* Familiar with cloud, such as AWS
Qualifications and experience
Preferably you will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as computer science or engineering. In the absence of a degree, significant and proven experience is required within a commercial development environment.

* Remote working 2 / 3 days per week
