Job Title: Technical Engineering Manager
Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience
Location: Lancashire, Greater Manchester

Specialist recruiter MARTIN ANTHONY has been assigned by a leading company who specialise in the design and manufacture of plastic injection moulding products. The successful candidates must have technical knowledge of moulding and tool making principles.
You will be responsible for managing new projects, driving NPI and motivating teams to continually seek excellence in the design, manufacture and delivery of quality Tools, products and services to their customers whilst promoting creative ideas that will lead to the improvement of efficiency throughout the process.
The company have invested heavily into a modern, high tech manufacturing facility that has state of the art machinery and robotics and are ready for future technological development.
The Role
* To target, manage, motivate, and evaluate the performance of all direct reports. To take remedial action as agreed. To inform HR of any training needs.
* To ensure the team delivers innovative designs/solutions from concept through to productionization within the agreed budgetary controls and timeframes.
* To ensure that the Company produces products and designs to the highest standard of quality including all safety critical items being adequately checked and controlled.
* To ensure the Company is fully aware (and utilises where possible) of new manufacturing technology and techniques both within existing and new products. Liaise with the Manufacturing Teams to implement new and improved methods.
* Ensure that existing products are further developed by the team to enhance functionality, ease of manufacture/assembly/cost out.
* Investigate, validate, authorise and communicate effectively engineering changes and new product releases to all relevant teams.
* Control and monitor the R&D budget to ensure spend is effective and within agreed limits.
* Provide a professional and accurate advice to all customers when answering technical questions.
* To help solve production design problems and help with any difficulty the production staff may have and look for ways to ease problems.
The Person
* Experience managing an Engineering Design department.
* Technical knowledge of moulding, polymers and tool making principles.
* Understanding of 3D CAD and ability to read 2D engineering drawings.
* Experience within automotive is desirable.
* Proficient in 3D CAD.
* Experience of the management of a small team of designers for prototype production and jig manufacture.
* Requirements for customer visits to discuss product technical issues and new product development opportunities.
* Good working knowledge of costing systems/BOM creation and drawing controls.
Once again, this is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the business as Engineering Manager. There is potential for the right candidate to progress into a Director level position.
