Senior Environmental / Geo-Enviromental Consultant

X are looking for a Senior Environmental / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their team near Swansea. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an established and growing regional team, part of their strong and expanding national geo-environmental resource.

X provide services for a broad range of private clients and the public sector, working on a variety challenging projects and sites. You will be responsible for providing geo-environmental consultancy services.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be to design, procure, undertake a health & safety role and project management (including financial management and reporting) of geo-environmental & geo-technical site investigations. Key responsibilities will include the production of desk study assessments including environmental due diligence reports, the accurate collection of ground investigation site data and the production of detailed factual and interpretative reports.

Their team of experienced Engineers/Consultants will offer mentoring and the opportunity to progress to professional chartership following a formal chartership training scheme. They tailor your training and development accordingly to achieve your own personal goals, providing the specific support you need to reach your potential.

The position would ideally suit an individual who has a number of years of site experience who would like to expand their existing skills base in consultancy. You will be knowledgeable in current practice and governing standards/guidance for the investigation of contaminated land and/or geotechnical investigation.

This will include experience of large and complex site investigations, associated software and data management systems, as well as groundwater and ground gas monitoring and sampling and data interpretation. You must also have an excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental management, as applied to ground investigation work.

Whilst not essential for the role, experience of the interpretation of geotechnical data and/or detailed quantitative risk assessment would also be an advantage. Ideally you will be self driven and be striving to achieve Chartership.

X presently has an approved mentor scheme aligned with the Geological Society of London to support the chartership process for Chartered Geologist or Scientist. Skills,

Knowledge and Experience:

. You will hold a degree in geology, engineering geology or a relevant environmental science discipline.

• You must have experience of ground investigation, including scoping, set-up, logging, supervision, laboratory scheduling, groundwater and ground gas monitoring and factual reporting.

• You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fully IT literate as you will be required to write clear, concise and technically robust reports.

• You must have a good understanding of health, safety and environmental management, as applied to ground investigation.

• You must have a full, preferably clean, driving license.

• You will be a team player with strong social, interpersonal and communication skills
