This is a great opportunity for an experienced Technical and Commissioning Engineer to join an established engineering organisation specialising in the mechanical handling sector. You will be working alongside the existing control systems design team and service department.

Office Based

Support the control system design team in the specification and integration of the electrical field devices into the overall control system
As part of the design team generate electrical cable block diagrams and cable schedules for the electrical equipment to be installed
As part of the design team generate electrical cabling sizing calculations to determine size and number of cores for cables to be installed
Generate cable containment information for the electrical equipment to be installed
Working with mechanical resource, ensure the electrical equipment is integrated into the overall design of the crane/moving structure
Generate Control System Testing and Commissioning Schedules
Generate Control System Site Acceptance Test Procedures
Produce Risk Assessment and Method Statements to cover site activities
Site Based

Carry out electrical control system installation works, as required by the contract
Verify the control system elements of the installation works, have been installed in compliance with the contract's design documentation
PLC/HMI literate with experience of working with Siemens, Rockwell and Schneider Electric.
Set up/configure any Variable Speed Drives included within the control system
Carry out control system electrical testing activities from cable testing in order to provide cable test certifications, initial power up tests through to final testing and commissioning tests, in line with the control system test and commissioning schedules
Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing in line with the FAT documentation for the projects
Support the overall Site Project Manager in delivering the electrical / mechanical installation, testing and commissioning activities of the crane/moving structure, including the completion of Reports of Thorough Examination (where appropriate) for final handover to client
Carry out Site Acceptance Testing, with the client, in line with the control system SAT procedures
Produce Reactive Risk Assessment and Method Statements to cover any changes to site conditions as the installation and testing works progresses
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and identify potential electrical problems
Carry out project modernisation work related to crane/moving structure conversion or refurbishment
To attend breakdowns, identify faults and carry out effective repairs
Health and safety objectives must be satisfied at all times whether activities are taking place in the office, workshop or on site. Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Health and Safety Plans must be complied with at all times
Follow quality control objectives as laid out in the SCX Quality Manual. All relevant Procedures must be followed to ensure Customer Satisfaction and achievement of SCX objectives
