SHIFT ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (CHESTERFIELD) SALARY GBP37.5k PLUS OVERTIME (OTE GBP40-45K) BENEFITS. SITE IN A POSITIVE PHASE OF DEVELOPMENT, GOOD TEAM ENVIRONMENT. FIXED TERM CONTRACT TO START WITH PERMANENT POTENTIAL.
The Client
Our client is fast growing company and this is a great time to get on board with them. As part of this growth we are seeking an Electrical & Instrument Maintenance Engineer to work on shifts. This is a desirable shift - a 5 shift pattern with 18 day breaks.
The Role
The role of Electrical Technician ensures key deliverables in safety & reliability of the plant are met, technical support is available within the shift, & production support is delivered.
The role holder reports to the shift team leader and is expected to balance priorities and resolve problems as they arise, supporting the process & the shift team in the operation of machinery whilst maintaining safety, quality & production levels through proactive inspections & monitoring.
The role holder is responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, fault finding & diagnostics, and engineering repairs across the site operation. A full knowledge of electrical systems & compliance is essential and a good understanding of instrumentation & control systems is desirable.
Main tasks
Ensuring the safety of themselves & others when working on site
Operating the site safety systems, including the "LOTO isolation" & "Permit to work" systems
Producing risk assessments & standard work instructions for related tasks
Undertaking regular preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, inspection & safety inspections
Effective problem solving for engineering & related problems, & completing reactive repairs to breakdowns
Contributing to root cause analysis of failures & faults
Liaising with external agencies & manufacturers, & supervising contractors should the nature of a problem or fault extend beyond the knowledge of the role holder
Actively support the planning & implementation of planned shut-downs for maintenance & cleaning
A percentage of production tasks on each shift.
As the role will be cross functional across all areas of the site this is a challenging yet exciting & interesting position within the business
Key competencies
Time served apprentice trained (electrical) minimum of NVQ3 or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a heavy industrial or fast moving consumer goods environment (FMCG)
Understanding of basic mechanics and capability of carrying out mechanical tasks
Familiarity with DCS &/or PLC systems for fault finding & routine testing
Ability to carry out reactive & planned preventive maintenance
Ability to work cross-functionally with the production process
