My client is a leading, high-growth, specialty snack manufacturer who are part of a large international food group based in Tyne & Wear. To help with their next exciting phase in their growth and development, my client seeks a Factory Manager to play a pivotal role during this critical period of growth, capex investment and future proofing.

Reporting to the Group Head of Manufacturing, the Factory Manager will be accountable for owning and developing manufacturing outcomes and KPIs in line with relevant local and company governance that provide your framework of operation and improvement for you and your teams. Supported by your site business partners and factory leadership team you will be relentless in your desire for everyday great delivery and execution, creating an environment of trust, challenge and curiosity to be the best with a team ethic that at its core is passionate for continual improvement.

Main Responsibilities

* Have a zero-loss approach to safety, drive adherence and improvement to all existing methods of working on site

* Develop a strong HSE culture within the site team, resulting in a measurable improvement in safety performance

* Ensure that the site team are compliant with responsibilities in accordance with the Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policy, and understand their responsibilities within it

* Promote and drive a strong Food Safety and Quality Culture, ensuring compliance to all relevant standard

* To ensure that site teams comply with local statutory, group, legal, customer and best practice guidelines in all operational areas, with particular focus on Technical and HSE

* Be relentless in driving product quality, ensure improvement plans are in place to reduce CPMU and improve finished product quality

* Drive standards for GMP and Site Hygiene

* Work with the Learning and Development Team to drive technical competence and standardised best practice within the site

* Work with the Supply Chain team to deliver OTIF service from the site and to drive delivery against conformance to plan

* Manage and control site expenditure within agreed budgets, regularly review and align with Finance Business Partner to ensure all risk and opportunities are understood and communicated

* Minimize waste within product quality specification, understand materials waste at SKU level and zero BOM for each component

* Measure Direct Labour performance and understand the drivers within, including OEE, Organizational Loss, Crewing standards and absence measures

* Regularly review progress against plans to and ensure agreed program outcomes are met, provide adequate support and challenge to drive performance.

* Implement a site Performance control system with tiered meetings to ensure appropriate KPI management and actions are taken within the site

* Be part of the Integrated Business Planning Team and understand future supply requirements, work with planning to optimize service and cost outcomes

* Work with the Capital Project Team to identify forward projects for business growth, cost reduction, quality, and safety

* Delivery of performance reviews and alignment of objectives with broader site and business priorities, development and coaching of team, develop leadership capability across the site and focus on ensuring the correct behaviours are encouraged and understood

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess senior leadership experience in a role such as Factory, Operations, General, Area or Senior Production Manager gained working within the FMCG sector. You will possess expertise in the field of continuous improvement and ideally have experience of managing large-scale CAPEX projects/improvement works to site layout and machinery.

HSE Responsibilities

* Lead by example to set expectations, carry out audits to verify safety systems and procedures are in place and effective. Review accident and incident trends and implement safety plans with improvement targets in your respective areas. Support your teams to implement permanent safety solutions and communicate safety performance to your teams whilst taking accountability safety performance of your teams.

Experience and Qualifications

* Manufacturing site leadership, ideally within the food industry

* Supply chain management, including accountability for customer service levels

* Continuous improvement / 'Lean' process management
