Material Buyer - Growing company offering fabulous opportunity. Happy to employ the Buyer on a permanent or freelance basis
We are working alongside a successful building main contractor, with offices in the North West London area. They have recently won several new schemes and are keen to recruit a talented Buyer. The contractor specialises in the luxury prime residential market, with clients including Grosvenor Properties, The Historic Houses Association and a who's who list of famous and wealthy clients. They cover an area around Mayfair, Belgravia, Knightsbridge and the affluent areas of London carrying out projects up to GBP10m in value. The schemes involve either new build or refurbishment of residential projects, but always corporate very expensive finishes. The contractor's business model is extremely well managed, with a reputation for producing a quality project on time and budget, which results in a large amount of repeat business.
The Buyers will be responsible for regulating materials required for the project, purchasing the materials in accordance with the established budgets. A crucial aspect of the role will be to ensure that the construction contract maintains profitable, and that the most cost effective materials are used to lower outlays. The Buyers will play a key role in the overall profitability of a project, overseeing fluctuations in the cost of raw materials and making sure materials are acquired at the best price possible. The Buyer will seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from a variety of suppliers, manage and report on the accumulative cost of all new purchases. Ensuring that all materials comply with health and safety guidelines and that all direct Managers are fully briefed on the cost of materials.
The Buyer will have a minimum of 5 years purchasing experience
Have excellent analytical skills, commercial awareness and be numerical
A Talented Negotiator and able to adapt to any situation
Comfortable working in a team and calm under pressure.
