Junior Portfolio Manager - LDI / Liability Driven Investment

Location: London - Cannon Street

Salary: £65,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Position Type: Full Time

We’re the Pension Protection Fund. We protect millions of people in the UK who belong to defined benefit pension schemes. Our members rely on us to look after their pensions if their employers collapse and the pension schemes cannot afford to pay what they promised.

We’re equivalent in size to a top 5 UK pension scheme and have developed a highly sophisticated, best-in-class investment strategy. Our culture combines private sector standards with a public service ethos.

We’re looking for a Junior Portfolio Manager to work in our award-winning Investment Team and lead the day-to-day management of our multi-billion LDI portfolio.

The job-holder is responsible for trade execution, trade idea generation, portfolio construction, and information gathering to monitor the performance of the portfolio. There will also be significant involvement in building and maintaining relationships with external parties, i.e. bank counterparties, and proactive engagement with relevant internal teams, such as Risk and Investment Operations.

We’re looking for applicants with portfolio management and / or trade execution experience from an LDI or fixed income setting, with specific exposure to Sterling markets a plus. We expect that you have robust stakeholder management skills underpinned by excellent written and verbal communication skills allowing you to present ideas as well as numerical and technical information to diverse stakeholders. Additionally, we anticipate that you have a relevant professional or academic qualification (i.e. degree) to reinforce your level of experience.

Sound like you? Apply now.

In return for your skills, experience and commitment we’ll give you a challenging role within a business where you’ll get the support you need to develop your career.

You’ll also get an outstanding rewards package which includes a discretionary bonus scheme, private medical insurance, health cash plan, critical illness insurance, holiday trading, volunteering leave and a choice of generous defined benefit or defined contribution pension scheme.

We are a Disability Confident Employer. If you have a disability and meet the essential criteria for this role you will be guaranteed an interview.

We embrace diverse talent welcoming people with different beliefs, backgrounds and ways of working, and we aim to create an environment in which everyone can be themselves.

We are a flexible organisation and welcome the opportunity to talk about what arrangements may work best for you.
