The Royal School for the Blind Charity, Liverpool runs both a School (with residential provision) and an adult day service for young adults. Both provisions are part of the Charity.

School: The Royal School for the Blind, Liverpool offers educational placements for children between the ages of 2 and 19 with visual impairments and complex needs. Placements at the school are for both day and residential children. It is the aim of the School to provide the highest educational and care opportunities for all its children.

Adult Day Service: Rushton Futures, is a structured adult day service for men and women aged between 19 and 27 who have visual impairments and are described as having complex needs.

JOB TITLE – DEPUTY HEAD OF CARE

SALARY - NJC Scale Points 27 – 30 (£31,410 - £33,647) for full time equivalent. Due to the hours per week, plus one additional weeks’ pay for CPD the pro rata salary is equivalent to full time salary as above.

LOCATION – Church Road North, Wavertree, Liverpool, L15 6TQ

CONTRACT BASIS – 44 HOURS PER WEEK, TERM TIME ONLY, PERMANENT

START DATE - 1st SEPTEMBER 2021

The Royal School for the Blind Charity, Liverpool is an incorporated registered charity providing education for children aged 2 to 19 years who have visual impairment and other complex needs (MDVI). Currently there are 87 pupils on roll.

The Trustees seek to appoint an inspirational Deputy Head of Care whose contribution will enhance the School's and Residential care provision. Both have outstanding reputation in education and Care, (Ofsted 2017) and care (Ofsted 2019). Suitable candidates must be a registered children’s nurse band 6/7. Experience of children with complex care needs is essential. Suitable candidates will have an enthusiastic, caring outlook, exceptional leadership qualities and a passion for delivering outstanding care for all children.

Due to Covid restrictions, the Charity is somewhat limited on its ability to facilitate a visit, particularly during the school day, but do strongly encourage candidates to organise a visit. Interviews will be carried out in a Covid safe manner and will adhere to the Government guidance. Suitable face coverings will also be worn by all those involved in the process.
