As an Internal Communications Manager in our team, you can be part of the internal communications network that's making it happen.


Our internal communications approach is about connecting colleagues and promoting the voice of our people, bringing the vision of leaders to life and vividly telling the stories of success that are the heartbeat of the Trust.


We're part of the Communications & Marketing directorate and in our work we connect with every part of the organisation. As Internal Communications Manager you will have a fantastic opportunity to shape the way we communicate with the thousands of staff and volunteers who do so much to look after the National Trust's beautiful places and spaces.


This role is all about being accountable for the successful implementation and roll-out of internal communications plans and creating engaging compelling content to inspire and engage our colleagues.

What you'll be doing

You'll be an important part of the wider internal communications network.

Working alongside a Senior Internal Communication Manager you'll have a number of strategic areas and projects to support. Using both current and innovative approaches, you'll provide tactical internal communications to engage our people and ensure that messages are delivered in the most effective way to the people who need to hear them.

No day is ever the same at the Trust, so you'll need to multi-task and manage multiple projects. You'll be great at building relationships, offering advice to leads on internal communications issues, from crisis comms to long term programmes of work.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:

  • is able to identify craft and deliver key messages, narratives and information in succinct and engaging ways
  • is able to provide critical feedback and handle sensitive issues when needed
  • has strong influencing skills and stakeholder management
  • is able to cultivate and maintain good working relationships and manage clients
  • has strong technical knowledge of key communication channels and content including intranet, print, film, digital and social media
  • is full of energy and passion for delivering brilliant communications, with a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • high levels of creativity when working at both a strategic and tactical level
  • a team player with a collaborative approach
