Position: Production Engineer, Cable Assembly
Location: Littlehampton, West Sussex
Salary: GBP25-30,000

The Role:
This is an ideal role for an experienced and skilled production engineer with a cable assembly background. The role is essentially office based, with extensive interaction with the shopfloor, checking on cable builds and providing advice to the team. The key to the role is efficiency in getting jobs into production and an emphasis on continual improvement.
Duties:
* Responsible for cable assembly costings and providing technical assistance for production & Sales/Purchasing.
* Delivery of all Manufacturing Engineering inputs (work instructions, routings cost models, proposals etc.)
* Adhering to company processes regarding engineering changes (ECN).
* Providing accurate and timely cost information (process times, materials spend etc).
* Carrying out machine maintenance and tooling calibration when required.
* Liaising with customers on product improvements, addressing any design or quality concerns/issues.
* Assessing customer requirements from enquiry stage.
* Working with the management team to ensure ongoing improvements to quality and methodology.
* Logging and reviewing efficiencies, finding and implementing improvements when necessary.
* Delivering continuous improvement activities to progress the capabilities of manufacturing and ensuring the ongoing competitiveness of the product line.
* Fault finding and final inspection as required.
Skills & Experience:
* Experienced in Cable Assembly/Harness industry and Production costing.
* Experienced in soldering, heat-shrinking, sleeving, cable & wire dressing, crimping, automated and manual.
* Good I.T skills (Excel, MRP/ERP Systems).
* Ability to read & interpret technical engineering drawings.
* Ability to find alternative means of manufacturing.
* Excellent record keeping skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Previous IPC training certificate beneficial but not essential.
* An understanding of lean manufacturing.
* Knowledge of ISO/AS approvals.
* Excellent written and verbal communication
