Chemist - Paint

Our Client develops and manufactures specialist chemical, paint and coatings products for the finishing industry. With many years of experience in providing organic coatings, with significant success in the glass industry, the company wishes to further expand its technology, both in this and other markets. The company have an opportunity for a Paint Chemist to come and join their paint team. The role will develop over time so we are looking for a flexible and adaptable candidate who is keen to take on additional responsibility to help to move the company forward.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the main responsibilities include:
* Active participation in the development of new paints and coatings
* Progressing projects, safely and efficiently
* Evaluating raw materials and selecting chemistries for formulation
* Testing of paints and coatings to relevant international and company standards
* Production of regular reports on development activities and communicate results to other staff members
* Discussion of problems and resolutions with customers and the sales team to provide technical support
* Support internal QA and manufacturing staff with technical issues
Candidate Profile
* Understanding of laboratory equipment
* Experience in the paint, inks or coatings industries would be advantageous
* Ability to recognise colour differentials
* Excellent analytical skills
* Excellent organisational skills
* Scrupulous attention to detail, well organised and a team player who can show initiative to get involved in all aspects of the role
* The technical support provided to customers will increase over time as experience and product knowledge is gained by the candidate.
Salary GBP30,000 - GBP40,000 with 32 days holidays (including bank holidays and period between Christmas and New Year). Monday - Thursday 8:30-5pm, Friday 8:30-3:30pm
