We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Access Network Team based in Pampisford. With our continued global success in Lighting Control and our plans to evolve our embedded lighting products and add new Smart City features we are expanding our team. The team has responsibility for Telensa’s embedded Network Lighting Control nodes and Base Station product ranges.

Your main responsibilities will be to learn and understand the existing complex system architecture and design modules to fit into that architecture. In this key role you will have the capability to take on broad product requirements, producing technical specifications and designs to meet those requirements, you then effectively implement the designs in an Agile setting.

Experience in C development on bare metal, RTOS and embedded Linux based microprocessor platforms to implement real-time C code, in a resource constrained environment, sometimes interfacing with microprocessor hardware and peripherals is a must. You will also have the ability to implement this efficiently to the Yocto-based Base Stations to keep them up to date with the latest fixes and security patches. This includes both the generic package updates and in-house code.

To be successful in this role you must have strong problem-solving skills and creativity to have the ability to work out innovative ways to add new features to resource constrained devices. In addition to immediate team members, you will be working closely with the Hardware team, Central System team, Product Management/Product Owners and Operations to produce solutions that work end-to-end.

You must have the following:

• Experienced in developing real time embedded products in C
• Experience with a Yocto distribution on embedded Linux (Desirable)
• Experience of unit testing frameworks in an embedded environment
• Proficient use of Git for version control
