Have you always wanted to work outdoors in the countryside? Do you want to work while gaining a valuable vocational qualification? If you do, we would like to hear from you.

About Us

We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances, and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its distinct charm, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves.

We are currently looking for 4 x Countryside Worker Apprentices to join us with an anticipated start date of 23rd August 2021. The apprenticeship is expected to last approximately 18 months.

The Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for four individuals keen to pursue a career in countryside management to join our organisation and develop a wide range of skills whilst working towards completing a Level 2 Countryside Worker Apprenticeship.

You will learn as you work with full supervision and undertake training and assessments within the workplace. You will be supported by off-site training and college residential placements and will be accessed using endpoint practical and theory exams.

The Role

As a Countryside Worker Apprentice, you will participate in the ‘Skills for the Future’ project. This project is part of the Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme - a programme grant-funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which aims to reveal, conserve and celebrate the hidden heritage of the area that became part of the extended National Park in 2016.

About You

To join us as one of four Countryside Worker Apprentices you don’t need any formal qualifications. What you will need is:

- To achieve Level 1 Functional Skills (Maths and English GSCE Grade 2 and 3)
 - To work towards Level 2 Functional Skills (GCSE Grade 4)
- A willingness to train and study both in and out of a college environment
 - To be hardworking and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- To have a positive attitude, reliable nature and self-motivation
