Post Designation: Enforcement Officer
Location: Brecon Beacons National Park
Grade: 7
Responsible to: Principal Planning Officer(s)
Job Purpose:
To assist with the investigation and resolution of alleged breaches of planning control.
Main Duties
1. Investigating alleged breaches of planning control, listed building control and advertisement control, also breaches of hedgerow regulations and tree preservation orders’ and bringing to recommendation stage.
2. Carrying out pro-active enforcement related projects targeting a specific type of breach or location.
3. Investigation of compliance with relevant permissions, including compliance with conditions and approved plans.
4. Investigation of compliance with enforcement and other related notices.
5. Processing of relevant correspondence and preparation of reports to committee.
6. Assist with the monitoring of conditions.
7. Operating a computer based system relating to enforcement.
8. Monitor whether development commenced has a relevant permission.
9. Preparation of statements of evidence and appearance as a witness at court hearings and inquiries where appropriate.
10. Attendance at Planning Committee when requested.
11. Assist with surveys of issues of planning control.
12. Any other duty, appropriate to the grade and nature of the post as required by the Chief Executive.
Essential Criteria
- Organisational and interpersonal skills including handling difficult situations and negotiations.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge and understanding of planning law and enforcement related issues.
- Ability to interpret maps and plans.
- Ability to use a variety of I.T packages.

Salary: £27,741- £29,577 per annum
Period of employment: Permanent Contract
Working hours: 37 hours per week
Salary is paid monthly (last day of month) into bank/building society account.
Annual leave entitlement
22 days per annum pro rata, plus 8 public holidays and 2 extra statutory days. Leave entitlement rises annually to 25 days per annum pro rata after 5 years’ service.
If you transfer from the service of an outside Authority to the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, you are able to bring with you your accrued leave entitlement (accrued due to length of service) up to a maximum of 25 days.
Pension
The pension scheme in place is a standard Local Government one; the employee contributes 5.5% (up to £14,100) which rises to 5.8% (£14,101) of their contractual hours worked and the employer currently contributes 20.9 %.

Hawl gwyliau blynyddol
22 diwrnod y flwyddyn, pro rata yn ogystal â 8 gŵyl gyhoeddus a 2 ddiwrnod statudol ychwanegol. Mae hawl gwyliau yn codi bob blwyddyn hyd at 25 diwrnod y flwyddyn , pro rata ar ôl 5 mlynedd o wasanaeth.
