Software Engineer (Any OOP lanuage with Javascript exp) cool, IOT start-up

Junior or Mid-Level GBP30,000 - GBP40,000

Now I know that saying a company is 'cool' is pretty cliche, but this company really is cool!! They are a technology startup, who use the world of IoT and smart sensors to help improve the safety of people in the workplace, and in leisure.

Picture this. You're a surfer, it's a sunny day and you want to go out and catch some waves, but you don't want to get hit by the nasty looking rocks on the other side of the beach. This smart wearable device can detect when you are drifting out of the safety zone and will notify you to get back closer to shore, dude!

In more recent times, this business has really found its feet in the world of construction, and the smart device is used by workers on building sites, and will notify the wearer of any potential hazards. 10ft holes in the ground? No bother. Swinging cranes that might smack you? It's got you covered.

They've also been working tirelessly during Covid, with the device helping massively with track and trace, allowing more businesses to avoid complete closure, by tracking exactly where positive tests have been, and who they have been around.

Anyway, onto the actual role!!

This is a Junior or Mid-Level Software Engineering position, with Javascript, SQL and ideally some Ruby although they are open to you wanting to learn a new skill. They aren't looking for LOADS of experience even if you're a grad with some self-taught experience, you are welcome to apply!

What you'll ideally need:

Experience with Javascript
Experience with Ruby (or any other OOP language with the willingness to up-skills)
Cloud-based services; AWS or Azure (Nice to have)
Development on Linux
Build and deliver web applications with an API backend
Use relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
Work with other engineers across the whole system
Daily use of version control and project management tools (e.g. Git, JIRA)They are a small company, with big plans to grow over the next year. So you must be comfortable working in a tight knit team of 15, in a fast paced startup environment. There is heaps of room for progression here, and the support is second to none!

As they are based in Worcestershire, you will need to be able to commute there a few days per week. They reckon 3 days onsite, and 2 days at home, for the majority.

If you've read this far then you're probably keen, so you know what to do! Apply and I'll be in touch
