Master Scheduler
Would you like to be able to work on multiple exciting class of Naval Boats including in-service and new build? We currently have a vacancy for a Master Scheduler at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.
As a Master Scheduler this role will provide you with a unique opportunity to develop a plan from the ground up in a busy manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for the creation, maintenance and continued of the development of the integrated master schedule across the Boats Business. You will work closely with Project Managers and other cross functional stakeholders to produce and report up to date project management information as the schedule progresses.
This role will provide you with the opportunity of becoming part of an expanding team and with a rapid growth forecasted in this sector of business. This is a brand-new role where you will be able to shape this role and gain exposure to stakeholders within the BAE Systems Business and could lead to future opportunities within the BAE Systems Business.
Your main responsibilities as a Master Scheduler will involve:
Undertaking project scheduling, including support to regular project reviews
Being required to lead reviews and collaborate with project, production, engineering, and supply chain and business development, to maintain an accurate schedule of work is captured
Ensuring that project control processes are applied consistently in line with Company Policy
Supporting the integrity of data for contracts, prospects and resourcing
Supporting the control of schedule on a number of projects
Providing metrics data to the project including; resource profile, forward loading, resource levelling/smoothing requirements, highlighting key issues looking ahead, budget vs planned vs actuals spends
Integrating SAP data into plans (MSP or P6)
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Planning, scheduling and reporting experience
Knowledge and understanding of Project Management processes, procedures and systems
Good knowledge of MS Office including intermediate Excel and advanced MS Project
Competent in the use of SAP and SAP integration with a good understanding how to draw data from SAP and input into a schedule (MSP), to provide actuals against activities on the schedule
APM Project management qualification or equivalent experience
Foundation Degree/ HNC / HND / Certificate in Planning or equivalent level of qualification/experience
Desirable:
A good understanding of EVM (Earned Value Management) and how to manage SPI (Schedule performance Index) and CPI (Cost Performance Index) data
Be able to identify the features of a good schedule, referring to DCMA 14-Point Standards for schedule integrity or similar

You should have excellent communication / stakeholder management skills (both verbal and written), with proven experience of effective communication at all levels in an organisation. You will be able to influence stakeholders both internally and externally. You will be expected to work independently on the routine aspects of the role and under guidance and supervision in more complex situations. You should be able to work as part of a small team whilst being able to solve problems and use your initiative to reach solutions.
