Principal Structural Engineer - Sheffield

Our clients are an independent multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy providing a wide range of services across all stages of infrastructure schemes throughout the UK. Due to an increasing workload, their Structural Engineering Services team are now looking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer to join their Sheffield office working on a range of new build development and refurbishment projects across multiple sectors.

Responsibilities to include:

- Undertake structural design calculations in a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with British Standards / Euro Codes to successfully deliver projects for our Clients

- Implement internal QMS procedures and ensure all designs comply with the company's internal checking protocols

- Full project management of design projects of all sizes including commercial delivery of projects, ensuring timescales and budgets are met

- Input into the preparation of fee proposals and develop associated design scopes

- Lead the design process from concept through to completion on projects of all sizes

- Undertake coordination with other professionals and contractors as appropriate

- Liaise with Clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the Client brief including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required

- Work independently on smaller projects, or as part of a team on more significant schemes

- Collaborative working with other offices across different disciplines

- Lead structural inspection projects

- Mentoring of Junior Engineers

- Actively pursue new business opportunities

Requirements:

- Minimum of 7 years' experience in engineering consultancy

- Chartered Member of IStructE or ICE

- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

- Excellent knowledge of all relevant British Standards and Design Codes

- Proficient in the use of design software such as Tedds, Tekla, & CADS

- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills

- Excellent attention to detail

- The ability to lead a team of engineers and technicians

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Good awareness of all commercial aspects of projects

In return:

- Circa GBP40,000 - GBP60,000 salary DOE
