We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join a UK's leading food manufacturers based near Barnsley (S73 postcode)
This role is on an initial temporary basis, however upon successful completion of a 12-week trial period, you will be moved onto the company contract.
The shift pattern is Wednesday to Saturday 12pm to 10.30pm (40 hours paid). The hourly rate is GBP10.63ph
Reporting to the QA Manager, you will support the day-to-day QA activities to ensure an efficient and effective quality control service is provided.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE QA TECHNICIAN:
* Ensuring that all day-to-day Quality Assurance (QA) are carried out effectively.
* To report and act upon any issues relating to food safety, quality and legality to the management team.
* To develop and maintain positive working relationship with our internal and external customers.
* To ensure that the standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) expected by our customers are maintained throughout the factory.
* To monitor environmental and product temperatures within the factory
* To carry out routine calibration of measuring equipment within the factory
* To carry out taste panels and follow up on any non-conformances.
* To ensure all food safety measures are being adhered to, through auditing and monitoring.
* To collect and register samples/swabs for the laboratory.
* To ensure that weighing and metal detection equipment is operating correctly.
* To ensure that any nonconforming products (raw materials, work in progress and finished goods) are placed on hold and quarantined and communicate this to relevant managers.
* Work in a safe & responsible manner observing all aspects of health & safety.
* Promote and maintain best practice culture within the business.
* Carry out ad hoc projects and investigations when required.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE FOR THE QA TECHNICIAN:
* Ideally you will have worked in a food production/manufacturing environment and have experience of working in a quality position.
* Have a working knowledge of all aspects of Food Safety (Level 2)
* Good communication skills - verbal & written.
* Be a team player and willing to collaborate to achieve the best result.
