My Nottingham based client are looking for a high-calibre purchasing / supply chain candidate, to take responsibility for ensuring the on-time supply of materials and inventory management.

My client are a well-established manufacturer, supplying into the retail and hospitality industries.

Description

As Purchasing and Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for managing and developing the companies forecasting, supply and S&OP processes. You will work collaboratively with Operations, Sales, Suppliers and the Warehouse, with the primary aim to improve customer service levels and working capital performance.

Key responsibilities include;

Purchasing

To carry out material ordering and expediting activities in line with company requirements
To schedule materials and place PO's in line with agreed operational plan and objectivesInventory Management

Hold and establish supply planning parameters in order to optimise stocks and costs throughout the supply chain
Ensure that inventory levels are kept to a minimum without impacting service levels and availability (Target Availability TBA)
Monitor Service Level and Inventory risks in order to pre-empt possible issues in the short and medium termForecasting & Reporting

Support the company in developing monthly forecast projections by Product Type, Product Family and SKU level, to maximise profit and enable key suppliers to plan accordingly
Prepare and publish appropriate reports to monitor supply chain performance and provide insights into trends in demand to drive improvements in demand and supply side accuracy. Systems & Processes

Develop and improve systems and methods to continually improve demand forecasts and supply chain planning activities so that the company can better anticipate customer needs. Profile

The successful candidate for this Purchasing and Inventory Controller role, will have a good understanding of procurement/supply chain best practice and ideally be degree qualified (or vocational equivalent).

Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills, in order to establish excellent working relationships
Articulate, confident, able to work under pressure and has a passionate can-do attitude towards their work
Plans, organises and schedules in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorities and work efficiently to agreed timescales
Good IT skills with knowledge of Excel and ERP systems are an advantage
