Based in an inner city multi-racial area of Leeds, Chapeltown Citizens Advice is an independent charity with 19 paid staff and 45 volunteers that provides a comprehensive advice service from its main office and outreaches. Delivery is currently restricted to telephone and video conferencing due to the pandemic and you will be required to work from home on some days each week.

Generalist Adviser/Caseworker to Clinically Extremely Vulnerable individuals

£23,866 per annum plus 5% pension contribution

Full time, 36.25 hours per week

The role

We are looking for a Generalist Adviser/Caseworker to join us. This project will present you with an exciting opportunity to maintain and develop a high quality generalist advice service tailored to meet the specific needs of people who are / were designated as clinically extremely vulnerable, or their carers, recover from the pandemic by providing access to general social welfare advice.

We are looking for an adviser with an excellent knowledge of the welfare benefits system as well as a good generalist knowledge of debt, housing and employment.

You’ll have the ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the issues, whilst maintaining structure and control of meetings. You will maintain

detailed case records that meet quality standards and funder requirements. You will require good IT skills in order to support clients. With a background in advice work, you will be able to assess client needs, identify related issues and offer support to access other services.

We also require that you have a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service and that you ensure the work reflects and supports the Citizens Advice service's equality and diversity strategy.

You will work from home, Chapeltown Citizens Advice and outreach venues, contributing to both the CEV project and our wider service ambitions.
