The Person
First off, you may have only been in retail for a short while but already know you love the day-to-day of working with people, giving time to your colleagues, offering guidance and support where it's necessary, leaving them to it when it's not. Assisting customers will be second nature and this is a position where being in front of customers a lot is expected. You'll be happy leading by example but equally happy using performance indicators to get the best from your team. In short, you'll be a great all-rounder, as happy getting stuck in as you are overseeing the more strategic stuff.
The Role
The business is looking for someone to slot into their succession plan who has the potential for General Management, or maybe something even bigger and is willing to put the work in to get there. The training involves time just about everywhere, behind the scenes in warehousing and operations, front of house working with people and product, probably time at Head Office getting a feel for the bigger picture, you name it really and this is a company that'll listen to you too. Think you have more to offer in logistics or supply chain? No problem, here's a project for you. Believe that VM is more your speed? They'll be happy to develop you in that area. They're flexible and the sky really is the limit if you have the ability. You'll be expected to take on an operation position quickly and be moving on to bigger things as soon as you're ready.
