Trainee Saw Operator
Job Description
Reporting to the Production Manager
Ensures the safe operation of bandsaws and circular saws; cuts various materials to specifications such as material, type, size and dimensions as specified
Reads and interprets basic drawings
Reviews daily stock availability forwarding recommendations for orders
Responsible for the unloading of stock checking to ensure amounts/size/material confirm to order specifications/delivery notes, ensuring correct storage of stock delivered
Installs saw blades and sets tension and cutting speed for specific operations; sets saw blade angles to obtain desired angle cuts as appropriate; sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut positioning and securing material against stops; fills machines with lubricants/oils as appropriate
Starts machines/saws and observes operations; measures work produced for conformance to specifications and delivers to appropriate areas
Meets all schedules and timelines
Maintain equipment performing basic preventative maintenance, detecting malfunctions, replacing cutting blades etc as necessary

Experience operating bandsaws and circular saws
Experience cutting various metals (i.e. Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel)
A form of engineering qualification (BTEC, HNC, HND, Degree etc) or some experience working within an engineering/manufacturing remit is desirable
