Job Shop Recruitment has an opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, working for a client of ours based in Torbay.
Job Role
* To work n conjunction with the Estate Managers and Mechanical Supervisor, deliver the repair and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) mechanical service activity to ensure compliance with statute and best practice, and customer satisfaction.
* To carry out complex/non-routine/routine mechanical work on engineering services, equipment and systems, including multi-skilled working in other trades as necessary, in accordance with current regulations and legislation.
* This is a "hands-on" position and you will require the skills to carry out planned maintenance and reactive tasks.
* Work on a wide range of systems including but not limited to:
* power distribution
* fire alarm systems
* heating systems
* Steam systems
* ventilation / air conditioning plant
* boiler plant
* refrigeration / cooling plant
* water systems
* building maintenance management systems
* emergency generators
* un-interruptible battery systems (UPS) control systems
* sterilizers / autoclaves / washer disinfectors
* catering equipment
* lighting
* Communication systems.
On completion of relevant training and experience, carry out 'Competent Person' duties for Mechanical Systems as required.
On completion of relevant training, carry out work on pressure vessels in accordance with current regulations.
On completion of relevant training, carry out the removal of trapped persons from lifts.
On completion of relevant training, carry out work on water services and systems in accordance with current regulations.
On completion of relevant training, carry out installation, commissioning, testing, repairs and inspection work on natural gas equipment and systems in accordance with current regulations.
To undertake on-call and shift work as required and on a rota basis, this may include a weekend and bank holiday presence on site.
Manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new infrastructure, systems or items, working unsupervised to a recognised standard within an acceptable timescale.
Carry out maintenance work, fault finding, and repairs and efficiently run highly complex engineering plant and equipment.
Identify and refer key mechanical issues, particularly safety and compliance concerns and those with political sensitivities, to the Estate Operations Management Team
On completion of relevant training, carry out ''Competent Person' duties as required.

Requirements
BTEC/City&Guilds or equivalent training to minimum level 3 and relevant experience in an electrical engineering trade
Health & Safety Qualification
Specialist Knowledge/ Qualification ie Electrical LV, HV, gas systems, ventilation, water, steam etc.
Experience of multi skilled trades acquired through training / experience
Experienced in the use of IT based control systems
Evidence of recent and relevant CPD
Experience in writing and compiling reports.
Knowledge / awareness of asbestos, water ,electrical and mechanical safety
Holds a current driving licence
Demonstrable proficiency Microsoft Office
Good written and oral communication skills.
Analyses technical data / test results
Demonstrable technical problem solving , fault diagnosis and solution finding
Capable of identifying safety concerns & undertaking risk assessments associated with works within own patient / staff / working / construction environments
Plan, organise straight forward activities, some on-going.
Experience in planning maintenance / repair activities obtained through practice
Track record of planning /undertaking own work
Basic keyboard skills and in the use of IT equipment / basic software
Ability to interpret technical drawings (CAD) and specifications
Working Conditions Occasional/Frequent unpleasant conditions; occasional highly unpleasant conditions
Occasional exposure to dust / dirt./ sewage/ fumes /gases
Working from Height / in Confined Spaces
Driving between sites
Able to lift, carry and use hand tools and other equipment and plant ie pumps/motors
Undertake heavy repair, move equipment and lift heavy objects
